Rainbow Learning Environments
Rainbow Child Care Centre provides care for up to 39 preschool-aged children per day, across two rooms. Each room is thoughtfully designed with a range of learning areas, including a home corner, book corner, and building and construction space.
Each room has its own tables for meals and table-based activities, as well as access to shared bathroom facilities and outdoor learning spaces. Large windows throughout the rooms provide natural light and ventilation, creating bright and open environments for children to learn and play.
Our outdoor yard is shared between both rooms, with routines that ensure one class accesses the space at a time. The outdoor area is an extension of the learning environment and is used for a variety of experiences, including obstacle courses, ball games, sandpit and sensory play, and group learning experiences.
“If children feel safe, they can take risks, ask questions, make mistakes, learn to test, share their feelings, and grow.”
Possum Room
(3-4 years)
Starting the rainbow adventure
Our Possum Room is where the Rainbow journey begins for many of our Rainbow recruits. In this room, we focus on building strong, trusting relationships with both children and their families, recognising that a sense of security and belonging supports confident engagement in learning.
During their time in the Possum Room, children are supported to take responsibility for their belongings, develop early friendships, and build social skills. They are encouraged to participate in group experiences and explore their environment with curiosity and confidence.
Wombat Room
(4-5 years)
The year before school
Our Wombat Room focuses on developing the skills that support children to thrive in a school setting and beyond. We provide a wide range of opportunities to strengthen fine motor skills and scissor use, as well as problem-solving, negotiation, and an understanding of fairness.
Children are supported to recognise and regulate their emotions, build early letter and number awareness, and continue developing strong social skills. Above all, our priority is to nurture each child’s natural curiosity and love of learning.
Outdoors
Our newly re-vamped yard is the perfect place to connect with nature, practice gross motor skills, assess and take risks, and have fun!
